Humboldt Composite High School MTB Club Finishes Strong!

Humboldt Composite's second half of the season saw our high school MTB racers improve on their already impressive results. At Granite Bay, Meigan finished second in JV girls and Vivian rode strong into 13th for sophomore girls. For sophomore boys, Tommy, Ethan, and Wyatt finished 6th, 25th and 32nd over the rocky, windy course. Kyle, Dillon, Blake, and Riley ripped it up in the freshman boys race in 13, 16, 18 and 58th place. For JV boys, Sawyer finished in his best place yet at 35th in the hot sunny weather. Our best day yet!!

At the Norcal conference champs we had another great race. While the camping at the Six Sigma Ranch was a highlight, the racers had a battle on the course with very warm temperatures and challenging singletrack. Meigan finished her amazing season in the JV girls division with a second place several minutes ahead of third, ending the regular season 2nd overall! Elizabeth started her JV girls race at the back of the field and finished an incredible 7th!! In the boys sophomore race, Tommy started strong in 10th but suffered a slow flat tire that relegated him to 42nd. Ethan had an amazing race to finish 13th with a big smile on his face. Wyatt finished his short season with a great 26th. In the freshman boys race, Blake rocked it with his broken foot to finish 15th, followed by Kyle and Dillon in 16th and 17th. Birthday boy Sawyer had a great race in the heat of the day to finish off his senior year racing JV boys in 35th. He said it was his best race of the year, and not just because of the custom cupcakes we shared to celebrate!

At State Champs in Petaluma at the Five Springs Farm, our team had an amazing day. Meigan finished atop the podium in 3rd, and Lizzy 24 in the JV girls. This was in a huge field of 76. An incredible feat for both racers! Viv finished in 25th after being held up at the start; and Tommy and Ethan raced hard in their incredibly competitive field to finish 24th and 40th. Freshman boys Kyle and Dillon fought to finish 22nd and 36th, again in huge fields of over 100!! Kudos to Wyatt for battling through a tough day.
